Chartwells Higher Ed Dining Services

During my last semester of undergrad, I worked as a Marketing Intern for one of Chartwells’ college dining halls, Quinnipiac Dining. This role allowed me to capture picture and video content during tabling events, create Instagram reels to show off new items and increase the follower count of @qudining by 10% in less than three months.

Instagram Reels

My supervisor tasked me with creating new, fun and engaging Instagram reels to diversify our content. Since our main audience is the current college students attending QU, this was the perfect role for me to take on. I researched and analyzed what other college dining halls did to see how college students interact with them. Using this research for my own planning strategy helped with the effectiveness of the reels I created. Attached below are the Instagram Reels I planned, filmed and edited, along with the rest of the social content I produced.

Tabling Events

Tabling events are one of the main activities that students get excited about in the dining hall! I had the opportunity to run multiple of these for over 9,000 students across 3 dining halls. During these events, I’d offer the students a free sample of whichever food we were promoting that week and take a quick picture of them for Instagram. Students love to see their faces on the page!

Presentations

During this internship, I completed two presentations to show my supervisor, one halfway through the semester and another at the end. My first one was about Instagram reels that included a competitive analysis, how our reels are currently doing, current trends and future ideas we could use. My second presentation was about a new addition we added to the dining hall, boba tea. I went over the number of sales we’ve had, the consumer survey and some new ideas we could take to make sure the sales increase. Both of these are attached below.
