The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences
During the spring of my second year in college, I had the opportunity to participate in Quinnipiac’s famous QU in LA program. This allowed me to obtain an internship and live in sunny California for 12 weeks. While I was out there, I worked as a Marketing Intern for the Television Academy, also known as the people who do the Emmy Awards! All of the content produced was for the @televisionacad Instagram account, which has now grown to almost 430K followers. This experience kick-started the love I have for entertainment marketing.
Today in TV History
One of the many campaigns the Television Academy created for Instagram was called “Today in TV History”. My assignment for this campaign was to research fun facts relating to Emmy-awarded/nominated shows and actors. Once the fact was approved, I dug through our digital asset management (DAM) system for photo content that could be used. Once the photo was approved, I created an Instagram story graphic with the photo and the fact with Adobe Illustrator. Attached below are the stories I created, along with Jimmy Fallon reposting one of my graphics to his story.
Television Academy Foundation TikTok
The Marketing Manager at the time brought me aside and asked me if I was interested in creating a TikTok account for the Television Academy’s internship program, the Television Academy Foundation. I immediately said yes and got to work doing research on other entertainment industry internship programs and what we could be doing to keep up. One of my tasks was creating short reels of the nominated shows in their specific categories for the 42nd College Television Awards. I made these with CapCut and all of the TikToks I created are attached below.
Red Carpet & FYC
I covered some events while working at the Television Academy, including the 42nd College Television Awards and a Better Call Saul For Your Consideration (FYC) event. During the award show, I took social footage of the talent on the red carpet and ran SD cards to the photographers during the presentations. For the FYC event, I got to shadow the Social Media Creative Producer in interviewing Bob Odenkirk for our Instagram. Attached are some photos from the events.
